ZRP releases names of three deceased victims in Harare-Mutare Road accident

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), has released three names of the four victims who were killed in a road traffic accident which surfaced on July 17 along Harare Mutare Road bear Mabvuku turn off.

ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commission Paul Nyathi revealed that the deceased were identified by their families

The victims who were identified includes Roseline Mudzimbasekwa (38) a female adult of Zimre Park, Sharon Chigwada (46) a female of new

Mabvuku and Michael Mumanyi (46) a male adult a Fairview.

The police further highlighted that the other victim’s next of kin has not yet been located in order to identify the victim.

The fatal road traffic accident occurred on July 17, 2023 at around 0530 hours along Harare-Mutare Road near Mabvuku turn-off. A police report stated that four people died in the accident, while four others sustained injuries. Police said the accident involved a Honda Fit vehicle with four passengers on board that hit a pedestrian before swerving to the right, resulting in a head-on collision with another Honda Fit vehicle carrying one passenger.

The first three months of 2023 have been like a horror movie for Zimbabweans as 12, 588 road traffic accidents were recorded with a heartbreaking number of 474 fatalities while 2,386 sustained injuries, which implies that a fatality occurred in one out of every four crashes.

Apparently, ZRP urges drivers to be safety conscious and exhibit exemplary driving conduct on the roads in a bid to safeguard the sanctity of life.

The law enforcement agents and the government are working flat out in a bid to reduce the alarming surge in road traffic accidents which have killed a disturbing number of people in the country.
