In the vibrant tapestry of Southern Africa’s music scene, one name has consistently risen to the forefront, captivating audiences with an infectious rhythm and charismatic stage presence.

Winky D real name Wallace Chirumiko, the esteemed Zimdancehall chanter, has once again seized the spotlight, but this time on a continental scale.

His musical prowess and captivating performances have earned him a prestigious nomination at the renowned All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in the highly competitive category of Best Male Artist in Southern Africa.

This year’s edition is unique as AFRIMA is celebrating its 10th anniversary since AFRIMA has become a significant platform that brings together artists, music enthusiasts, industry professionals, and fans from all corners of the world.

It has not only celebrated established musicians but has also provided a Launchpad for many rising stars, contributing to the growth and evolution of African music on the global stage.

AFRIMA celebrates and promotes a variety of the continent’s cutting-edge music genres and musicians hence it will see the biggest names in Africa’s entertainment industry being honoured for their talent and hard work.

The nomination comes at a time when the Zimdancehall king has been sidelined in what most Zimbabweans have described as sabotage by political players who manipulated the media not to air his music as they feel threatened by his recent ‘‘Eureka Eureka’’ album which was interpreted as an attack at those who are in the corridors of power.

Despite the hurdles being faced by the artist in his own country which speaks to his music being sidelined by various music stations and being snubbed in local awards when he is more than deserving, the artist has gained international recognition.

Winky D has been trending recently for his new album “Eureka Eureka”, which is laced with some powerful political and social commentary.

The Zimdancehall talented and international artist is vying for the best male artist category with big African musicians names such as Costa Titch of South Africa, DJ Tariko of Mozambique, Macky2 from Zambia, Musa Keys from South Africa, DJ Maphorisa from South Africa, AKA from South Africa, Han C from Botswana and S Java from South Africa.

The 10 Year Anniversary Celebration promises a grand affair filled with excitement, emotions, and extraordinary performances.

It will be a time to look back on the incredible journey of AFRIMMA, highlighting the unforgettable moments, groundbreaking performances, and trailblazing artists who have graced its stage.

It will be undoubtedly one-of-a-kind experience, filled with glamour, entertainment, and the magic of African music.

As artists and fans gather, they will not only celebrate the achievements of the past but also set the stage for the next decade of excellence and creativity in African music.
