Fast moving consumer goods business, Trade Kings, is seeing positive impact of local production as it has created hundreds of jobs in Zimbabwe.
The company, which produces and distributes popular household brands such as Boom Washing powder and paste, as well as foodstuffs, is headquartered in Zambia, but has had operations in Zimbabwe since 2017.
Speaking to Business Review recently, Paul Muchati, the marketing manager of the company said setting up the plant in Zimbabwe was in response to positive response of the market.
“Our plant manufactures washing powders and paste, and we still import other lines from TradeKings Zambia,” Muchati said.
Apart from the popular Boom products, which have taken the market by storm and are also, competitively priced, the company also produces Hippo Washing Powder and Xtra Washing Powder, effectively dominating the detergent industry in Zimbabwe.
This has led to employment opportunities for local people.
“Altogether, from production side, warehouse, distribution and sales, we are about 700 employees,” Muchati said.
The company is poised to strengthen its position on the Zimbabwe market.
It seeks to broaden distribution to all parts of Zimbabwe and capture the export market.
“For now, we have a warehouse in Bulawayo and another warehouse in Mutare. We are trying to reach every corner of Zimbabwe so that we can be able to reach each and every customer,” Muchati explained.
“Since we are selling the FMCG we have to distribute everywhere,” he noted.
