President Mnangagwa ‘most excited’ about UK visit

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has been invited to attend the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III of England.

The Coronation will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort and will take place on Saturday 6th May, 2023.

Announcing the news on his twitter handle today, President Mnangagwa expressed his excitement at the invitation extended by the British Ambassador to Zimbabwe.

“I’m most excited to announce that I have accepted an invitation to the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. Yesterday I met with the British Ambassador, Melanie Robinson. We also discussed trade, investment, and the special relationship between Zimbabwe and the UK,” he said.

The British ambassador echoed the sentiments saying they had discussed a number of things pertaining to trade and the importance of free and fair elections in Zimbabwe.

“V good to meet with President @edmnangagwa today. We discussed the Coronation, the hospitals and clinics that UK company NMS is building in #Zimbabwe, other 🇬🇧trade and investment projects, and the importance of peaceful, free and fair elections in 🇿🇼later this year,” she said.

The coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The royal website says “the Coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”
