Newly elected Zvimba East Constituency Member of Parliament Oliver Mutasa has revealed that inclusivity and peace in the political divide is the best way to build a better society.

Mutasa won the Member of Parliament seat for Zvimba East Constituency in the just-ended Zimbabwe 2023 harmonised elections after beating his main rival ZANU PF candidate.

In an exclusive interview with Review&Mail, the newly elected Zvimba East Constituency Member of Parliament Oliver Mutasa said inclusivity and peace are the building blocks of a better society

“In my constituency l primarily want to focus on inclusive development because we do not want a broken society.

“There is an indispensable need for an inclusive society,” he said.

The Citizens Coalition for Change newly elected MP added that ideologies by political leaders may vary from one to another but their main goal should be anchored on building the nation as politicians are to be united by the umbilical code of building their nation together.

“The mantra by political leaders which says ‘Nyika Inovakwa nevene vayo’ gets to one thing to say we have a collective responsibility to build our nation. The only difference is in implementation by politicians,” said Mutasa.

According to Mutasa inclusive development has to benefit everyone in the society and not only favour a few citing that he is going to work flat out to uplift the standards of living in the society for everyone.

“Sometimes when you take a closer look at society you might realise that only a few benefit hence we need to ensure that all and sundry also benefit.

“That is why we are pushing for everyone to benefit not for War Veterans only, not for the connected ones, not for the elites but for everyone,” said Mutasa.

Mutasa also promised to advocate for laws that will contribute to inclusive development in all sectors of the economy.

“My area is Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) corporal responsibility, mining, environmental laws,”

“As an MP with a business mindset l will not be focusing on slowdowns but focusing on how best we can articulate vital issues to parliamentarians for the benefit of everyone,” he said.
