What’s in a name?ZIMA’s confusion over Qounfuzed for award nomination

The Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) has found itself embroiled in a controversy after overlooking renowned artist Qounfuzed’s submissions in the recently concluded ZIMA23 awards ceremony.

Following the artist’s public outcry on social media, ZIMA has issued a formal apology to Qounfuzed in an effort to address the oversight.

Qounfuzed, known for his popular track “Kamunamato Kekubhawa,” expressed his disappointment and frustration over being excluded from the ZIMA nominations.

In a bold move, he took to social media to announce his intention to release recorded conversations and chats with ZIMA directors unless they publicly apologized for the perceived snub.

“I have back to back chats and call conversations recordings with the ZIMA directors and Imma be sharing these for FUN…in the next couple of days

Imma turn off my comment section as I do not wish to hear anyone’s opinion or two senses when I do this… Only a public apology from ZIMA as they promised will stop me from this,” Qounfuzed wrote.

ZIMA swiftly responded by issuing a public apology to Qounfuzed. The awards organization acknowledged the oversight and expressed regret for not including his submissions in the final nominations.

 The apology letter from ZIMA:
