Zimbabwean midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, on loan at English second tier side Luton Town from Aston Villa, was a bit of a diamond in the rough at his former side.
After seeing limited game time, and none under new coach Unai Emery, he was shipped off to Luton.
However, he has been a revelation for the second division side who are third on the log and poised for Premiership promotion playoffs.
Luton named Nakamba “Diamond player of the Month” for March, paying tribute to Nakamba’s contributions.
The Zimbabwean midfielder has also won over supporters at Luton for his steely performances.
On its social media pages, Luton Town revealed they have only conceded two goals from open play in the last 13 games and Marvelous Nakamba is a big part of that.
“He made 10 tackles in the win over Watford; No player has made more in a Championship match this season,” Luton said.
Luton have kept 10 away clean sheets in the Championship this season – no side has kept more in the division this term on the road.
It’s the first time the Hatters have ever reached double figures for away clean sheets in a Football League season in its history.
