Good News with Clyde: God our Shield

Clyde Tinashe Dondo

The world we live in has created troubles and problems that has made us ask questions without answers. Leaving us in a helm of fear. Fear that has deprived us of the sanctity we enjoy in the presence of God.

With the outbreak of Corona virus many have asked, how safe are we? how long will we stay safe? But the one who has created and given life to you offers you the answer.

The Lord is our protector in a hostile world. Even though Satan may attack us and evil may surround us, the Lord is our protector. Whenever we are frightened by circumstances or feel that the forces against us are too much, we can take comfort in knowing that God’s protective shield is more powerful than anything man or nature can provide.

We need divine protection, we must depend on God who is our defense and refuge in the day of trouble. The Lord is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my strength in whom I will trust, my buckler and the horn of my salvation and my high tower”, Psalms 18:2.

This good news of Christ should empower us as believers, as we are being encouraged to take heed of his instructions which is the food to our souls. The only instructions that he left us, being the bible to study, learn and take heed so that we can enjoy his love, his mercy and joy in this cruel world we live in.

it is God who protects us even if it seems we have protection

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth. It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”, Isaiah 55:10-11.

The Lord is a strong tower; we are encouraged to run to him where there is safety in his name. Fear not but only believe that he only is able to do exceeding substance above all we may think or ask of. Psalm 91 is a prophetic text that relates with our time as it speaks over our lives, how to seek refuge from the calamity brought about with corona virus. God has laid up a plan of comfort, easiness and glory for us in troublesome times. No amount of fear, terror and dispiritedness can move God’s love upon his children. This is shown in the book of Psalms with clear expression of comfort and light from terror attacks from satanic agents.

“Comfort in trying times. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, not of the arrow that flies by day. A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Whatever arises in your life or comes against you, do not tremble! You are to be far from oppression and terror”, Psalms 91:5-7.

The promise is unto us to prosper to conquer to realize our full potentiality in Christ to evolve into what God says. Only then can we realize our purpose on this earthly realm, to fulfill so that one day when the time comes we bask in his glory and presence and sing songs of worship in heaven.

“But I will sing of thy power, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning, for thou hast been in my defense and refuge in the day of trouble”, Psalm59:16

God’s shield is there for you, where ever you are. So do not panic or fear. Stand strong for his light is with you. You will bare fruits in his grace, his hand over your life for direction and control.

“No one shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days”, Exodus 23:26.

Facing difficult situations, troubles and problems, be it corona or any other obstacle in your life tell yourself that it is not the end. For those led by faith, those who seek the love of God your journey doesn’t end in pain, sorrow, fear and confusion. For the people of God, it never ends in pain. Your salvation is on its way. Be patient, vigilant, strong, steadfast and your reward awaits you.
