Golfer Chinhoi boost chances of winning first sunshine tour this year

Professional golfer Robson Chinhoi, finished among the leaders on day two of the ongoing Zanaco Masters at the Lusaka Golf Club in Zambia, boosting his chances of winning his first Sunshine Tour event this year.

The local top professional according to The Herald managed to go into yesterday’s round on 11-under after posting an impressive round of five-under-par 67.Chinhoi is tied with South Africans Stefan Wears-Taylor and Sean Bradley, who had rounds of 67 and 66, 69 and 64 respectively.

Day one leaders David Wicks and Neil Schietekat are now tied on fourth place after they posted 10-under-par.Several Zimbabweans are taking part in the Zambian tournament and Chinhoi is carrying the country’s hopes of lifting a Sunshine tour trophy since Ben Follet-Smith last did it a few years back.Nyasha Muyambo, who is also having a good game, is tied on position 26 after a four-under-par.

The lanky golfer had rounds of 70 and 70 for a total 140 and is tied with DK Kim, Jaco Ahlers, Peter Kermis and Rupert Kamiski. Stuart Krog is a short behind on three-under-par.Visitor Mapwanya and Biggie Chibvuri, who had a promising start, failed to make the cut.

The Zanaco Masters, formerly the Zambia Masters, is making a comeback after a two-year absence.
