President of the Socialist Party Zambia, Fred M’membe, has written a letter expressing his party’s unwavering support and solidarity for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (Zanu-PF) in the upcoming elections scheduled for August 23, 2023.
In the letter addressed to President Mnangagwa, M’membe emphasized his party’s stance on the forthcoming Zimbabwean elections.
He outlined the stark choice that he sees before Zimbabwean voters, framing it as a decision between “outright puppets or agents of imperialism” and “national liberators” who have worked against imperialism despite their perceived shortcomings.
M’membe’s said that the Socialist Party Zambia cannot remain neutral in this critical juncture of Zimbabwean politics.
He expressed his belief that supporting anti-imperialist forces, even with their acknowledged weaknesses, is more feasible and constructive than attempting to transform puppets aligned with imperialism into patriots and Pan-Africanists.
“We therefore, put our full support and solidarity with President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF in next week’s elections,” M’membe writes.
The letter concluded with well-wishes for success in the August 23rd polls, expressing the Socialist Party Zambia’s hope for victory for President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF.
