Dynamos fires Coach amid disappointing league performance

Dynamos have wielded the axe on Herbert Maruwa.

The club’s management have terminated the coach’s contract after Dynamos failed to narrow the gap between them and log leaders Highlanders in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL).

The Dynamos leadership has also suspended assistant coach Murape Murape as well as team manager Richard Chihoro, as they now look to overhaul the entire technical department in a bid to breathe life into their fading hopes of winning the league title.

Dynamos are nine points behind Highlanders and Maruwa had been given a five-game ultimatum to improve their position on the log standings.

However, a 0 – 0 draw against Hwange – in his very first match cited in the ultimatum on August 6 at Barbourfields Stadium – means Maruwa failed to meet the expectations of his employers, leading to his sacking.

Dynamos chairman Moses Maunganidze said the decision to relieve Maruwa of his duties was an intervention necessitated by the need to revive the fortunes of the Harare club.

While FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza is already being linked with a move to Dynamos to replace Maruwa, no official comment about this has been released by the club yet.
