Comedienne,Felistas Murata, known as Mai TT is slated to spend an additional night in custody following the revelation of background cases that could potentially influence the decision regarding her eligibility to perform community service.

Murata was recently convicted on charges of theft and fraud earlier this week. As part of the legal proceedings, she was sent for community service vetting today.

However, during this process, other undisclosed cases linked to her background came to light.

Prosecutor Monalisa Magwenzi told the court Felistas Murata is not eligible for community service because she had previous convictions.

“I understand accused person was supposed to be coming for sentencing but information we have received is that she may not be eligible for community service. So the community service department said they need time verify the previous convictions because it looks like she has previous convictions.

“It is being said she defaulted community service in an assault matter where she was supposed to perform community service at Budiriro Council Office. That information needs to be verified as it has a bearing on whether she is a suitable candidate for bail or not

“New information has emerged through community service vetting with regards to her eligibility to get community service.

“They have indicated that they will need some time to investigate the new information. We ask that she be remanded to Friday to allow the department to do its investigations so that the court may be in a better position for its judgement,” Magwenzi said.
